December 18, 2022 by tutorials-forum

Samsung Galaxy S23 satellite communication Feature Overview

Samsung is reportedly taking a cue from Apple and planning to introduce satellite communication support on its next-gen Samsung Galaxy S23 series. The feature, recently introduced on the iPhone 14, lets users send SOS messages through satellite channels in areas with zero cellular connectivity. Samsung is reportedly working with global satellite communications company Iridium to introduce the connectivity option on the Galaxy S23 series. The new smartphone series is said to launch at a Samsung Unpacked event in February 2023, and the line-up may include Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Some Features of Samsung s23

  • Samsung Galaxy S23 series might come with Satellite Communication feature similar to the iPhone 14 series.
  • The South Korean giant is said to be working with Iridium Communications to bring the satellite communication system to the Galaxy S23.
  • Samsung Galaxy S23 series is set to launch around early 2023.

Samsung Galaxy S23 satellite connectivity

Iridium offers voice calling and data communication services through 66 low-orbit satellites. Samsung is reportedly working with the company for two years to bring the feature to smartphones. For reference, Apple is working with Global Star to bring satellite connectivity to the iPhone 14. Huawei is using Beidou satellites to offer similar features to the Mate 50 Pro series. However, it must be noted that the iPhone 14 India variants do not come with satellite connectivity and it has only started rolling out in the US and Europe.

Twitter suspends several journalists, Musk cites ‘doxxing’ of his jet.

December 18, 2022 by tutorials-forum

Twitter suspends several journalists Overview

Twitter suspended the accounts of several journalists who had written about owner Elon Musk and an account that tracked the location of his private jet. Mr. Musk says sharing his personal whereabouts constitutes doxxing and violates the platform’s rules. Twitter suspended the accounts of several journalists who cover the social media platform, the latest battle over what can and cannot be said on the site since billionaire Elon Musk took control of it.The company hasn’t explained to the journalists why it took down the accounts and made their profiles and past tweets disappear. But Mr. Musk took to Twitter on Thursday night to accuse journalists of sharing private information about his whereabouts that he described as “basically assassination coordinates.” He provided no evidence for that claim.

QUESTIONABLE AND UNFORTUNATE’

Among the journalist accounts suspended on Thursday was that of Washington Post reporter Drew Harwell (@drewharwell), who wrote on social media platform Mastodon that he had recently written about Musk and posted links to “publicly available, legally acquired data.”Twitter also suspended the official account of Mastodon (@joinmastodon), which has emerged as an alternative to Twitter. Mastodon could not immediately be reached for comment.

A spokesperson for The New York Times called the suspensions “questionable and unfortunate. Neither The Times nor Ryan have received any explanation about why this occurred. We hope that all of the journalists’ accounts are reinstated and that Twitter provides a satisfying explanation for this action.”CNN said it had asked Twitter for an explanation on the suspensions and would reevaluate its relationship with the platform based on that response.

Microsoft to roll out ‘data boundary’ for EU customers from Jan 1

December 18, 2022 by tutorials-forum

Microsoft  ‘data boundary’ for EU customers Overview

The phased rollout of its “EU data boundary” will apply to all of its core cloud services – Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365 and Power BI platform. Big businesses have become increasingly anxious about the international flow of customer data since the EU introduced the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018, which protects user privacy. The bloc’s executive arm, the European Commission, is working through proposals to protect the privacy of European users whose data is transferred to the United States.

Microsoft seeks to bring internet to millions in Africa by satellite

“The first phase will be customer data. And then as we move into the next phases, we will be moving logging data, service data and other kind of data into the boundary,” she said.

The second phase will be completed at the end of 2023 and phase three will be completed in 2024, she said.Microsoft operates more than a dozen datacenters across European countries including France, Germany, Spain and Switzerland. For big companies, data storage has become so large and distributed across so many countries that it becomes difficult for them to understand where their data resides and if it complies with rules such as GDPR.

“We are creating this solution to make our customers feel more confident and to be able to have clear conversations with their regulators on where their data is being processed as well as stored,” Brill said. Microsoft has previously said it would challenge government requests for customer data, and that it would financially compensate any customer whose data it shared in breach of GDPR.
