Twitter suspends several journalists, Musk cites ‘doxxing’ of his jet.

December 18, 2022 by tutorials-forum

Twitter suspends several journalists Overview

Twitter suspended the accounts of several journalists who had written about owner Elon Musk and an account that tracked the location of his private jet. Mr. Musk says sharing his personal whereabouts constitutes doxxing and violates the platform’s rules. Twitter suspended the accounts of several journalists who cover the social media platform, the latest battle over what can and cannot be said on the site since billionaire Elon Musk took control of it.The company hasn’t explained to the journalists why it took down the accounts and made their profiles and past tweets disappear. But Mr. Musk took to Twitter on Thursday night to accuse journalists of sharing private information about his whereabouts that he described as “basically assassination coordinates.” He provided no evidence for that claim.

QUESTIONABLE AND UNFORTUNATE’

Among the journalist accounts suspended on Thursday was that of Washington Post reporter Drew Harwell (@drewharwell), who wrote on social media platform Mastodon that he had recently written about Musk and posted links to “publicly available, legally acquired data.”Twitter also suspended the official account of Mastodon (@joinmastodon), which has emerged as an alternative to Twitter. Mastodon could not immediately be reached for comment.

A spokesperson for The New York Times called the suspensions “questionable and unfortunate. Neither The Times nor Ryan have received any explanation about why this occurred. We hope that all of the journalists’ accounts are reinstated and that Twitter provides a satisfying explanation for this action.”CNN said it had asked Twitter for an explanation on the suspensions and would reevaluate its relationship with the platform based on that response.

Microsoft to roll out ‘data boundary’ for EU customers from Jan 1

December 18, 2022 by tutorials-forum

Microsoft  ‘data boundary’ for EU customers Overview

The phased rollout of its “EU data boundary” will apply to all of its core cloud services – Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365 and Power BI platform. Big businesses have become increasingly anxious about the international flow of customer data since the EU introduced the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in 2018, which protects user privacy. The bloc’s executive arm, the European Commission, is working through proposals to protect the privacy of European users whose data is transferred to the United States.

Microsoft seeks to bring internet to millions in Africa by satellite

“The first phase will be customer data. And then as we move into the next phases, we will be moving logging data, service data and other kind of data into the boundary,” she said.

The second phase will be completed at the end of 2023 and phase three will be completed in 2024, she said.Microsoft operates more than a dozen datacenters across European countries including France, Germany, Spain and Switzerland. For big companies, data storage has become so large and distributed across so many countries that it becomes difficult for them to understand where their data resides and if it complies with rules such as GDPR.

“We are creating this solution to make our customers feel more confident and to be able to have clear conversations with their regulators on where their data is being processed as well as stored,” Brill said. Microsoft has previously said it would challenge government requests for customer data, and that it would financially compensate any customer whose data it shared in breach of GDPR.

iPhone SE Next Generatation Might Look Like iPhone XR

December 17, 2022 by tutorials-forum

iPhone SE Next Generatation Overview

The latest leak suggests that the fourth-generation iPhone SE might be getting the same design as iPhone XR. Apple’s update to the third-gen iPhone SE largely consisted of an internal upgrade, but the fourth-gen model could offer more. In a report about the next iteration of the model, it seems that Apple could modernize the package a lot. The iPhone XR didn’t have anything special that made it stand out, but it was a more affordable model compared to the iPhone X when it arrived in 2018. It was also very colorful, as it was available in six colors: Black, Red, Yellow, Blue, Coral, and White.

Features of IPHONE SE 2023

It had a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina, LCD display, IP67 water and dust resistance (the same certificate as the iPhone SE 2022), and it was powered by the, back then, flagship A12 Bionic chipset. If the rumors turn out to be true, we could see a similar device, equipped with newer hardware to keep it updated and in-line with the current generation of flagship iPhones on the market. This means we could see a similar display panel, a better selfie camera, an updated rear camera, 4GB of RAM, and the same 64GB of base storage option. The battery would also likely receive a massive upgrade, as it could come with a 2,942 mAh cell inside, supporting 20-30W fast wired charging.

If the rumors are true, I might finally buy an iPhone SE

As a technology enthusiast, the previous generation of iPhone SE series never made me go out of my way and buy the latest device on launch day. I didn’t fall into Apple’s target audience, even though I was looking for a cheap iPhone. Instead, I often opted for older-generation iPhones on the used market, since they’re even more affordable and reduces the amount thrown out as e-waste. Having a larger iPhone would result in a larger display, allowing me to consume content more easily and more immersively.

Samsung’s Another Ad Campaign Targeting iPhone, But Apple Wins

December 17, 2022 by tutorials-forum

Samsung’s Ad Targeting iPhone Overview

Competition is not just healthy for any market (it gives consumers more options and spurs innovation) but is also immensely entertaining for the general observer. It would be truly a dull life if our lives were populated by brands that stuck to their own business and did not take time out to have a go at each other.  And that is one of the things that make tech such a colorful world is the fact that it is packed with rivalry.

Google vs Apple, Google vs Microsoft, OnePlus vs Xiaomi, Apple vs Microsoft, Nothing vs Something else…rare indeed is the period of time that passes without some mad ad swipes by one brand at another. Samsung has been the busy one in this regard of late with its recent ads taking down the iPhone, but this is unlikely to be the last time something like this happens

Samsung’s ‘ingenius’ ads on Apple: Ingenious indeed

Samsung and Apple have been arch-tech rivals since the beginning of smartphone times. Both brands have come up with sometimes very clever and interesting and other times quite boring but this ad campaign by Samsung targeting the iPhones definitely fell in the first category. Samsung used simple questions like “where is the SD card slot on the phone” or if, “the phone comes with a fast charger” and used those questions to highlight how the Galaxy S9 was superior to the iPhone. Calling it Ingenious was another dig at Apple because many of its service executives at Apple Stores come with the Genius designation, and all the issues highlighted in the ad series were responded to with solutions that either required investing more money or were no solutions at all, making them appear like anything but geniuses.

Google Chrome Will Soon Require Fingerprint for Incognito Tabs Overview

Chrome for Android will let you protect Incognito tabs with fingerprint authentication soon. The overflow feature will remain in the same spot and other options will let you go back to your regular tabs.

How to turn on fingerprint authentication for Chrome’s Incognito mode

  • All it takes is a quick toggle, and your Incognito mode will be locked down under your fingerprint.
  • How to turn on fingerprint authentication for Incognito mode:
  • Open Google Chrome on your device if you haven’t already.
  • Tap the three-dot menu at the top right corner.
  • Tap “Settings.”
  • Hit “Privacy and security.”
  • Tap the toggle for “Lock Incognito tabs when you leave Chrome.”
  • Proceed by scanning your fingerprint.

You can use both Fingerprint and PIN as a password

However, when you restart the browser and try to reaccess those tabs, you’ll see a grey screen with an “Unlock Incognito” option at the bottom.
