Google Drive backup on WhatsApp is a very handy feature that allows you to save years of your chat history with just a single tap. This makes it very easy to move to any other smartphone without copying all of the stuff manually.
But here is a bad news for you that WhatsApp will have to put a limit on these backups very soon. This new development was pointed out by WABetaInfo who discovered this information while going through the source code of WhatsApp’s latest beta version. The codes reveal (“Google Drive backup changing”) followed by the notifications that will warn you of your backup limits (“Google Drive almost full”). Once this limit is reached, WhatsApp will alert you about this with a message “Google Drive limit reached”.
There is no official announcement as yet on the c
backup limit, but previous leaks have shown that it might be 2GB only. This is a very sad news for all of us with several GBs of data lying around. This report is most likely to be true as Google is also limiting the cloud storage for all other services as well. Just recently Google Photos put a limit on cloud backups and it appears that WhatsApp users will also face the same. Google may charge money for bigger backups like Google Photos. So if you are looking for saving years of chat history than get ready to spend some bucks.
