every social network is opting to impose the algorithmic feeds and it is unclear if any of the users actually benefits from it but it is a reality that everyone has to face online. Both Facebook and Instagram offer algorithmic feeds instead of chronological ones and Twitter provides you the option to switch ‘Latest Tweets’ feed, Instagram does not have got a similar option. it is now changing as the chronological feed is making a return.
As it has been announced by Instagram, when opening the app, you will be able to tap on Instagram logo and switch from default order to two different options. The first one is Following, which shows latest posts in chronological order and the second one is Favorites which is an all-new previously leaked feature that will let you select a handful of favorite accounts in order to curate your feed and only see the posts from those accounts. You can set up to 50 accounts as “favorites”, which is ranked higher in existing algorithmic feed.
Unfortunately, algorithmic sorting is the default option and you can not set either of the other two feeds as primary. Instagram has said that its research indicated that most of the people are satisfied with how the existing feed does the things.

Google’s new Android Automotive logo will help us all tell it apart from Android Auto
Mobile technology has evolved dramatically and it has changed the driving experience. All of us know Android Auto as it connects your phone to your car’s infotainment system providing all the music, information and maps that you could possibly require as you navigate your route. Android Automotive, the new Google’s in-car software is not widely available yet but it continues to get the new features.
Android powers both the systems, Auto runs on your phone and then uses your vehicle’s in-dash screen and buttons as an interface, working in collaboration with your car manufacturer’s native system. On the other hand, Automotive is designed to be the native system of your car, providing audio, hand free calling, navigation and various other handy functionality while running directly on your car’s hardware. At the moment, Android Automotive is either available or coming soon to few car models. So it will take some time for most of use to get the experience of it.
Android 13 DP2 is planning to resurrect the bygone app drawer icon
After neglecting Android tablet for years, Google has now started showing them some affection with Android 12L and its various big screen specific optimizations and features. One of them is a PC-style taskbar, providing a smoother app switching experience closer to that of a desktop. The new element is undergoing more refinements in the freshly released Android 13 DP2 with resurrection of the feature.
Android 13 DP2’s taskbar has got an app drawer shortcut that should make navigating between the apps even easier. In DP1 the way to access all of your apps was simply by returning to home screen and swiping up. DP2 streamlines the process by adding an app drawer icon to the taskbar, allowing you to jump right to your apps no matter which you are working on at the moment. The icon seems to appear when you are in an app and disappears upon returning to home screen.
Android introduced the app drawer icon many years ago when Nougat arrived with its swipe-up gesture. Back then not everybody liked it so this return may be a pleasant surprise for them.

Whenever a new feature arrive for an iOS app it always frustrates the Android users. This tool will allow the users to listen to their voice notes while reading any other conversation on their device with the playback carrying on in the background. Previously when this feature was in development mode, a player bar appears along the top of the app as you navigate away keeping the voice notes or any other audio file play in the background. Communication is attached with multitasking especially on a phone where messaging is asynchronous. So it is always welcoming that WhaysApp is finally improving how it handles the voice clips on its app.
Google Contacts is replacing hamburger menu with bottom bar
Google Contacts app for Android received its initial Material You makeover last year but now the developers are updating some more parts of the app to be in line with the current design guidelines of Google. Now Contacts app has got Material You bottom bar by replacing hamburger menu.
According to the reports the new interface is rolling out as a server-side switch that the avid developers might be able to activate manually for themselves.
It looks like the new design is part of Google’s larger plan to eradicate hamburger menu as it is getting out of reach at a very rapid rate. The transition is making lots of sense but the overall strategy of Google on this is a bit muddy at the moment. It seems that Google Messages app is bound to receive ham hamburger menu after removing it recently plus it has also been spotted that Google Photos app is also experimenting with the one too.
Instagram will not support IGTV anymore
Instragram introduced IGTV’s standalone app four years ago. Instagram went all out to promote IGTV app after the popularity of vertical video with prompts and previews. By the year 2020, Instagram acknowledged that IGTV is not getting the required attraction. Instagram has its main focus on Reels and they are planning to achieve the goal of becoming a one-stop social media and entertainment site.
