Google always likes to switch up its style and this is why Android 12 had a shift in appearance with Material You. With an all new design philosophy all of its apps will follow the suit whether with the dynamic themes or the bottom navigation bars. We often not see Google switch back to an older design but with a surprising change in Google Photos, the company seems to be setting a pattern with its current trends.
Google Photos has briefly flashed a three-line hamburger menu in the app before it disappeared after the restart. When tapped, the icon dies not do anything. It just lights up without opening a specific menu or performing any other action. So it is still not clear that it is a bug or Google is testing to roll out to users eventually. It is also very interesting that Google Messages app was recently updated to feature a new three-line icon which was not featured previously. There menus have been removed from Android apps over last few years
The dark theme of Google is going even darker
Dark Mode has become very famous in last few years. Most of the apps that we are using now a days have added the dark mode support. It has also been given in most of the Google apps which includes the Search app itself. Just a few days ago we saw Google testing pitch black theme on the search results in the desktop web version. The test has been followed up with new darker shade on Google app on Android phones.
The new color is not as black as the shade we have seen on the web version that one was literally pitch black and this one is just the darker shade of gray though it is quite closer to black. The change is more evident in the Discover feed which has become considerably darker. Search results have also got a new and darker shade but the change is not that significant. The redesign has not been rolled widely but if you want to try this out you can download latest 13.8 beta from Google Play Store.
Instagram has removed a feature which let the people to monitor the time spent on the app
Instagram has quietly removed a feature which let the people to monitor the time that they spend on the platform daily. This limit feature displays the pop-up notification to the user once their app activity cross the pre-defined time limit, thus reminding them to conscious of their screen time and make it easy for them to select to quit out the app.
However now it seems that Meta needs the Instagram users to spend more time on the platform so that ti can cash in by targeting them with the advertisements. This could be the result of pressure from the business side given a sudden plunge in share value which was reported in the fourth quarter earnings of the company earlier this month. There is an increasing competition from various other famous platforms like TikTok, new regulations in EU and Apple’s iOS privacy changes which are making it more difficult for the company to track users via personalized ads.
In order monitor how many hours you have spent on the app you need to visit Settings>Account>Your activity.
