Few days ago Twitter claimed that only 5% of its userbase is made up of spam and fake accounts which is a major factor in determining the value of Twitter as a company. The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk has responded to this claim by saying that his acquisition of Twitter is on hold at the moment but he is still committed.
Now Elon Musk has once again tweeted that more than 20% of Twitter’s userbase is made up of fake accounts. This is 4 times higher than Twitter’s original claim and it could be much higher than that. Elon Musk is now asking Twitter for proof that shows only 5% of userbase is fake. This means that Musk can leverage a better deal than his original offer at $44 billion but it remains to be seen. He is threatening to stop the acquisition deal until the CEO of Twitter actually clears the air regarding the fake accounts. He said that he could seek to pay lower price for Twitter while talking about the fake account concerns.
