WhatsApp has started testing the option to hide your online status on Android
Last year, WhatsApp added an option of hiding your Last Seen status from specific contacts. For the privacy point of view, it was a step taken in the right direction but it is not only the feature that has company has been working on since then. Earlier, WhatsApp introduced the ability to hide your online status and now this feature is working its way to Android version of WhatsApp beta.
With the WhatsApp beta for Android v18.104.22.168 a new privacy setting has been accessed by WABetaInfo. According to their repost, opening the app and navigating to Settings > Account > Privacy > Last seen and online reveals an option to select who can see when you are online. The option is tied in with Last Seen settings directly as you can only select whether to have everyone know your availability or the ones who can see your Last seen. It looks like a straightforward addition but it is an addition that will bridge the gap between official WhatsApp application and mods like GB WhatsApp which users may install for extra privacy.
