Google has made some innovative hardware-software integrations which resulted in such impressive cameras. Google is planning to hire for new team based in San Diego for camera image signal processor design.
The senior director at Google Mike Coulter posted a hiring announcement on LinkedIn where he expressed that the company is planning to form a Sn Diego-based Camera ISP design as well as verification team. Mike Coulter was the VP of Engineering at Qualcomm prior to joining Google. Some people are speculating that Google is trying to hunt for the talent from Qualcomm which is also based in San Diego. Google is also working on 2nd generation Tensor chip which is expected to be announced later this year.
