It has been reported that the latest flagship SoC of Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is overheating the Moto Edge X30, the first ever phone to use the chipset. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has come up with a 20% boost over the last generation, the Snapdragon 888 but this one comes at some cost. The report suggests that Motorola phones are running the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 are getting very hot. It has also been warned that 2022 is going to be very hot year for Android phones because of the new chipset. Despite the new aluminum alloy frame, the overheating is still happening. The aluminum alloy frame was designed with the thermal conductivity in mind. The company has promised that the things will be much cooler but it wont be the case either.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has been based on Samsung’s 4nm manufacturing process and ARM’s v9 architecture which is very highly power efficient. The extra processing power may be the cause behind the overheating issue.
